Image makers put clients up front
Article Abstract:
It is unclear whether advertising is a cost-effective method for surveying companies to increase business therefore during times of monetary restraint this form of marketing is often ignored. A few marketing departments are using new outlets such as radio advertising as competition between surveying companies increases. Some of the larger companies are advertising through the Internet or sponsoring sporting activities. Advertising may improve initial awareness of a company but other factors are more important in generating new business.

The consumer's champion
Article Abstract:
Remaining relevant to members' needs is a key issue for new ISVA Pres David Stathers. He believes that the organization has made progress in this area, and does not wish to halt this development by merging with the RICS. He is keen to make the surveying profession more user-friendly, and will encourage ISVA members to consider issues from the client's point of view. He believes that the ISVA's single focus allows it to have clarity of vision, unhampered by a divisional structure.
