Muscle from Brussels

Article Abstract:

Healey and Baker's newly appointed Senior Partner John Travers points out the firm will continue to further extend its business within the countries it already has a presence. Some observers have suggested Travers is not sufficiently well known in the surveying industry. Travers has worked in the Brussels office, Belgium, of H and B for 25 years. He prefers to consult with the workers rather than be seen as too overbearing. Travers is due to take over from Paul Orchard-Lisle during Sept 1999.

The importance of being European

Article Abstract:

James Lang Wootton (JLW), an important British surveyors' partnership, is seeking new opportunities in Europe. In 1995, JLW's continental European business accounted for more than half of its $160 million European turnover, but the surveyors' power-base remains in London. To redress the balance, JLW has created the post of European chief executive whose remit is to move the partnership towards European incorporation.
