New commercial property firm asa, created by surveyors Andrew Maynard and Andrew Evans and estate agent and former lawyer Stephen Fowler, seeks to offer a mixture of professional surveying skills and property agency services, along with an innovative approach to property marketing. The firm's founders believe that they can offer property advice that merges with company strategy. The first formal instruction for asa has been to handle the Old Engine House in Wells, England, which has been converted into a suite of offices.

Shopping all over the town

The 500-year-old County Hotel in Taunton, Somerset's town centre is being transformed to accommodate Marks and Spencer PLC, who have been looking to expand beyond their existing two stores in the city. The development by Marks and Spencer will have a knock-on effect by creating two vacancies in the vicinity. Outside the town centre, a 52-acre retail park is fully occupied and a further retail park is planned for a five-acre site by the A358.
