Up the junctions

Article Abstract:

A range of property development work is taking place around junctions 5 to 9 of the M5. It is unlikely that speculative development will be required at Stonebridge Cross, Droitwich, England, near junction 5, as there is strong interest in the site. Most of the space at the 5.7 ha Berkeley Business Park on the outskirts of Worcester, England, near junction 6, has been let. At junction 9, development work is taking up the demand that cannot be met in Cheltenham, England. Work here includes the development by AXA Sun Life and Bannertown Developments of 4.1 ha at Ashchurch, England.

Up up and away

Article Abstract:

Very high rents are currently being achieved in the retail sector in the UK. Retail rental values rose by between 3% and 6% in most parts of the country in 1997, and average high street rental growth is 5.9% a year. However, consumer demand is slowing down, and there are indications that rental growth could begin to slow down in response. There are significant variations in the performance of prime high street shops, and there are indications that retailers are concentrating on the larger centres.

Looking for commitment

Article Abstract:

The prospects for both the office and industrial property sectors in Exeter now seem to be improving. The 4,940 sq ft Southernhay House, the city's prime development, has finally been let after more than four years, and quality of demand is now rising. Take-up of office space out of the city was 50,000 sq ft in the first three quarters of 1995, with 90,000 sq ft of city centre space being acquired.
