West Central Ohio saw the relocation plans of two big distribution centers come into fruition in 1995 when Gordon Foods and Advance Auto Parts announced their bids to build facilities within the area. Regional distribution facilities are often attracted by an efficient interstate highway accessibility, as well as the short line Indiana & Ohio Rail System. Although two Class I carriers decided to lessen their service to the region, the West Central Ohio Port Authority acquired the track and leased it to the I&O, luring several industries into retention and expansion.

Northeast Ohio has the main asset of being in the middle of the heaviest industrial concentration in the country. It also offers several recreational and cultural opportunities.
