A company which is quoted on the stock market is more open to public examination and it simplifies any moves to merge with other companies. Quoted companies may also find it easier to raise capital funding. In contrast businesses which remain as partnerships can keep financial matters secret which can be an advantage if the company if facing difficulties but partnerships are required to pay higher levels of tax. DTZ Debenham Thorpe successfully floated on the UK stock market in 1987.
