Where's the top shop

Article Abstract:

Tenants deciding to lease a high street shop as opposed to a unit in a shopping centre are likely to have more freedom to choose the external appearance of their shop. Service charges are likely to be less but also services will be fewer and the high street shop tenant will have to take a greater responsibility for the structural upkeep of their store. Shopping centre tenants will usually deal with one landlord for the whole centre and there are likely to be more facilities for customers, such as car parks. Other shops in the centre may also help to encourage more customers.

Bluewater's glad tidings

Article Abstract:

Retailers near the newly opened Bluewater shopping centre, Kent, England, have noticed a decline in the number of customers visiting their retailers. Although Croydon nearby has not yet to experience the decrease in trade it anticipated. Some 600 million pounds sterling is planned to be spent on the retail market in Croydon. Some towns close the shopping centre, such as Orpington, have found customers are spending around 6%-7% less although the number of customers has risen by 5%-6%. It is predicted the Lakeside shopping centre will be badly affected by Bluewater.
