Which future do you buy?

Article Abstract:

The 'Retail 2010' report from Jones Lang LaSalle presents three possible socio-economic scenarios for Europe. These scenarios should assist retailers and developers in developing a more detailed view of their own futures. It is clear that retailers' profitability will come under pressure because of price transparency, which will in turn place pressure on rental growth. Owners will come under pressure to partner retailers, and there will be changes in revenue streams. Key trends will be the expansion of globalization and new technology, continuing European integration and the growth in the purchasing power of elderly people.

Just good friends

Article Abstract:

A potential merger may be on the cards if a joint venture by English estate agent Frank Knight and US-based property brokerage firm Grubb & Ellis (G&E) is deemed a success. The two firms operate in completely different ways, making the partnership most unexpected by the markets. The high calibre of people working for both firms is claimed to be the key factor in making the alliance work, with G&E employing up to 4,500 people in the US earning money on a mainly commission-only basis.
