Dangerous desires: television and erotics in late twentieth-century India

Article Abstract:

The eroticization of discourses and desires of public culture and the television programs telecast on transnational television in India is discussed. The place of erotics in the reconfiguration of gender, family, class and nation occurring in metropolitan centers such as New Delhi in late twentieth-century India is examined.

Homeland beauty: transnational longing and Hmong American video

Article Abstract:

The diasporic longing for the homeland is refracted in the videos of the Hmong Americans that are bout exploring the ways that videos communicate Hmong migrant subjectives. The methodological issues for an ethnography of media as agents of erotic subjectification are explored.

Introduction: mediated transnationalism and social erotics
