Le Pastiche: pedagogie de la langue et de la litterature

Article Abstract:

The analysis and practice of pastiche and parody present significant pedagogical advantages for the undergraduate study of French language and literature. The study of pastiche and parody can be conducted on many levels, including literary theory, composition, and textual, stylistic and thematic analysis. The use of pastiche and parody allows the student to learn by imitating great literary masters. Some examples of pastiches written by students are included. Article text is in French.

Painterly pastiche in 'Un Dimanche a la campagne.' (film by Bertrand Tavernier)

Article Abstract:

Bertrand Tavernier's film 'Un Dimanche a la campagne' treats painting both as a theme and as a stylistic referent. This film reminds the viewer of Jacques Aumont's argument that the genre of film tries to seem a natural successor to painting but Tavernier's use of pastiche and homage to the artistic canons reinforce how far mechanically reproduced film is from painting.
