L'eveil des sentiments et le paradoxe de la conscience dans 'L'Ecole des femmes.' (by Moliere)

Article Abstract:

Moliere's plays are an example of character needing interpersonal relations in order to emerge. 'L'Ecole des femmes' is a good example of this paradoxical tenet. His whole life long, Arnolphe observed other people and took advantage of their missteps. Arnolphe could be described as a cynical materialist. Self-love is so appealing to him because it has few risks. Arnolphe is the character who fails, however, while emotions and relating to other people emerge triumphant in this play. The text of the article is in French.
