Thailand in 1994: the trials of transition

Article Abstract:

The Thai coalition government's efforts to hasten the establishment of a democratic system of governance in Thailand were delayed in 1994 because of challenges within the coalition itself, the opposition and the military-controlled Senate. Economic growth was 8% for the year, largely because of the excellent performance of export markets and public and private sector investments. Thailand maintained friendly relations with other nations during the course of the year.
