The trial of Theoris of Lemnos: A 4th century witch or folk healer

Article Abstract:

The trials for witchcraft in Greece during the fifth and fourth centuries B.C.E., which were rare are presented with reference to the trial of Theoris of Lemnos, who was prosecuted allegedly for casting incantations and using harmful drugs. It can be concluded that Theoris operated on the religious and medical margins of the 4th century Athenian society, where the distinction between magical healing and magical harm was often erased, and the difference between respect for divine forces and impiety toward them was unclear.

Barrio gardens: the arrangement of a woman's space

Article Abstract:

Barrio gardens, where Mexican-American women combined their cultural ideas of womanhood, individual expression, and negotiation in their own space of land, are nowadays becoming extinct. It was the responsibility of the women to plant and tend to the flora planted in the barrio gardens, thus making the garden a place to provide practical resources.
