Villavicencio, Colombia, 1940-2005: From frontier town to frontier metropolis

Article Abstract:

A brief overview of the development of Villavicencio during the last sixty years and Department of Meta which is one of the fastest growing regions in Colombia is presented considering on the intention to continue regarding the city as a frontier metropolis. It is debated that because of its geographic grandeur that attracts many tourists and its continued search for its cultural identity, Villaviecencio establishes itself as a 'frontier metropolis'.

Human resources and economic development: The case of Saudi Arabia

Article Abstract:

The efforts of Saudi Arabia that would improve the quality, mix and practical skills of its human resources and the role it plays in national development planning are discussed. Development progress during the last few decades with a considerable rise in the number of higher education institutions and training and research centers are some of the objectives accomplished by Saudi Arabia on the road to better human resources development.

Gender and social entrepreneurship in societies in transition: the case of Azerbaijan

Article Abstract:

Social entrepreneurs and the social construction of gender during two distinct periods of Azerbaijan's modern history from 1800s to 1991 is focused. The sociopolitical, economic and ideological transition is examined and the effect of this transition on women's place and well- being is presented.
