"Well intended liberal slop": Allegories of race in Spiegelman's Maus

Article Abstract:

The two volumes of Art Spiegelman's book, "Maus" pursue the issue of race in America even though the focus is on Nazi Germany and hence, this must be challenged by other critics. The book depicts that Spiegelman's insight into Nazi racial caricatures are related to the animated protagonists of American mass culture, thus linking American racism and the Holocaust.
