Who is a Brahmin in Singapore?

Article Abstract:

A case study of Brahmin identity and community in Singapore is presented and a cognitive model that explains how individuals ascribe, contest and renegotiate Brahmin identity is developed. A discussion on beliefs about the Singaporean Brahmin community revealed that such a community is imagined.

J. G. Farrell's Indian works: his majesty's subjects?

J.G. Farrell's work was global and spanned virtually a century lighting upon three important crises in three different countries during three different periods. His work 'The Singapore Grip' focused on the period leading up to the surrender of Singapore during the Second World War.
