A clear case of poetic injustice

Article Abstract:

The Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement (LGCM) received a positive response to its World Wide Web site, which was set up at the beginning of 1995. This site, which offered hypertext links to other relevant Web sites, also served a valuable promotional role for LGCM. Problems arose when its existence was noted by Reform, an evangelical pressure group. This group claimed that LGCM was guilty of blasphemous libel because one of its hypertext links was to a site which contained the poem 'The love that dares to speak its name,' by Professor James Kirkup.

Everything you never wanted to know about sex ... but were told anyway

Article Abstract:

It is certainly true that there is a great deal of material of an adult nature on the Internet. Indeed, pornography has played a key role in boosting usage of the Internet. However, there is very mixed information about what type of pornography is actually available on the Internet. The 10 Web sites with the highest hit rates are pornographic, but the amount of money being made from selling pornography on the Internet is probably quite limited compared with the sex industry as a whole.

Get ready for the electronic billboard

Article Abstract:

Advertising on the Internet is beginning to emerge as a distinct creative area within advertising. It is becoming increasingly firmly established as more information is obtained about interactive advertising trends. Web advertisements were initially generic, but they are now being targeted, possibly through links with key words on search engines. Differences are emerging between the Internet and traditional media.
