Article Abstract:

Scientists are beginning to seriously consider the possibility of humans living on the Moon one day following the announcement by US space agency Nasa that there is water on the Moon. However, there would be a number of problems associated with living on the Moon. The surface of the Moon is covered with a thick layer of very penetrative dust that makes things stick together. It is extremely difficult to judge distances accurately on the Moon, and the need to wear a spacesuit because of the lack of gravity would eventually have a negative impact on bodily functions.

Real ale is too strong for the American moralists

Article Abstract:

There are a number of US software packages marketed to stop children accessing unsuitable Internet sites, which might expose them to pornography, but some of this software is impeding them from accessing Britsh sites which will do them no harm and provide them with useful facts. Operators of some Internet sites did not realise that access was being barred. These include sites which are coded under wine, alcohol and tobacco, including the Campaign for Real Ale, which might hold information for students doing projects or families looking for family public houses.

'If we get to power ...' (Nigel Jones, science spokesman of the UK Liberal Democrats)(science policies of UK's major political parties, part 1)(Network +)(Interview)

Article Abstract:

Science and related issues would be at the very centre of government if the UK Liberal Democrats were to win the forthcoming general election, according to Nigel Jones, the party's science spokesman. The party would commit 0.35% of GDP to basic research, compared with the present 0.2%, and would ensure that extensive investment is made in new technology, both in schools and in universities. The Liberal Democrats are the only main political party prepared to commit money to science.
