A little pill goes a long way

Article Abstract:

The decision by Maff, the UK government's food ministry, to introduce new legislation to reclassify vitamin B6 has attracted considerable controversy. At present, it is classified as food, as are all other vitamins and supplements. This means that it can be purchased anywhere in doses of up to 200mg. Maff believes that only doses of 10mg or less should be freely available in the future, with any dose of more than 49mg requiring a prescription. This view is disputed by nutritional organizations, which claim that there is no reliable evidence to show that vitamin B6 can be dangerous to health in large doses.

Two brains are better than one

Article Abstract:

'The Right Mind: Making Sense of the Hemispheres' by Robert Ornstein examines interaction between the left and right sides of the brain in everyday life. It is claimed that the right side of the brain understands the context of language, while the left side handles sequential and precise activities; hence people with right side brain damage often have trouble understanding jokes and sarcasm.

So you want better results? Try sitting boys next to girls

Article Abstract:

The possibility of seating boys and girls together, rather than in single-sex groups, leading to an improvement in academic performance for both sexes is considered. Supporters of this approach argue that boys can help girls improve their spatial abilities, while girls can help boys improve their use of language.
