A tale of hot money and 'Miss Russia.'

Article Abstract:

Allegations of a Russian money-laundering operation involving as much as $15 billion are being investigated. Two Russian-born senior executives from the Bank of New York are alleged to be involved. There are also allegations that funds have been taken from an International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan to Russia, and that senior Russian government officials could be involved. The US government has been criticised for IMF loans in the light of the allegations.

How Big Frankie duped the wise guys of the Mafia

The activities of Big Frankie, an undercover agent for the organized crime task force in New York, NY, have led to 73 members and associates of the Genovese family being charged with crimes including extortion and loan-sharking. The defendants are said to have made more than $14 million from their schemes in the period 1998 to 2001.

Puff Daddy takes the rap

Article Abstract:

Rapper Sean Combs, known as Puff Daddy, is standing trial on charges of violence following an incident in a night club in Dec 1999. The outcome of his trial will be a judgement on the rap industry as a whole, as many people closely associate rap with violence.
