Article Abstract:

A number of different groups are working to prevent deforestation in the Ecuadorian cloud forest. These include the Fundacion Pacaso, which was set up by 14-year-old boys. This organization is now bringing visitors to the Bosque Protector Mindo-Nambillo nature reserve, which covers 19,200 ha of the west slopes of Pichincha. It is hoped that bringing in visitors will allow eco-tourism to be established as a viable activity.
