A very English lynch mob

Article Abstract:

Residents of the village of Wing, England, have raised strong objections to the Home Office's decision to move paedophile Robert Oliver to Wing Grange, a halfway house run by charity Langley House Trust in the village. Wing Grange has improved its security, but is still far from being secure accommodation, and villagers believe that their children will be at risk. The Home Office believes that the best place for Oliver, who is technically a free man, will be in a small community where he is highly visible. Local MP Alan Duncan has accepted that Oliver must go somewhere, and is now ensuring that standards at Wing Grange are as high as possible.

Space, women's final frontier

Article Abstract:

Nasa has traditionally had a very negative attitude towards allowing women to go into space. It has exploited women in order to attract publicity, and therefore additional funds, and has regarded them more as objects than as individuals. More recently, it has realized that it needs to take women more seriously, and has reacted by selecting women for space missions who are actually extremely over-qualified. However, it has still not given any thought to the possibility of sexual relationships developing between male and female astronauts.

Bring out your daughters

Article Abstract:

It has become very fashionable for celebrity mothers to attend parties with their teenage daughter. Jerry Hall, for example, has been spotted at parties with her daughter Elizabeth Jagger, while Twiggy attends parties with her daughter Carly Whitney and Goldie Hawn with her daughter Katie Hudson. Many teenage girls feel embarrassed to be seen with their mother, but they may be prepared to attend social events with their mother if this gives them the opportunity to see people whom they greatly admire, especially pop stars.
