Airline reshuffle buys political insurance for Swire

Swire Pacific group of Hong Hong has taken steps which mean that in effect it will hand over control of Dragonair to China National Aviation Corp (CNAC). This will also mean that CNAC does not go ahead with plans to establish its own airline. At the same time, Swire Pacific has also forged closer links with Citic Pacific, the Hong Kong operation of Chinese investment company China International Trade and Investment Corp. CNAC has promised to cooperate closely with Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong's flag-carrying airline.
