Alternative trading for peace on Earth and goodwill to all nations

Article Abstract:

Alternative trading organisation Traidcraft was founded in 1979 as a business with Christian principles. It sells through shops, representatives and mail order. It pays fair prices for goods and only trades with fair producers who do not damage the environment. It does not exploit handicraft producers. Its highest-paid employees may not earn more than three times the salary of the lowest-paid. A social audit assesses relationships with shareholders and clients and impact on the environment.

Dwindling diaspora fails to keep the faith

Article Abstract:

There are now only 2 million Jews in Europe, compared with more than 3 million in the 1950s. Only ultra-Orthodox Jews are now having large families, and some observers fear that there will be no large Jewish communities in Europe in the early part of the 21st century. The European disapora is disappearing as a population group and as a cultural unit, possibly as a result of the growing acceptance of mixed marriages.
