An island fit for heroes

Article Abstract:

It is possible to reach the Greek island of Hydra, located in the Saronic Gulf, by hydrofoil from the port of Hermione on the Peloponnese in only 30 minutes. Hydra is not a typical Greek island, and Hydra town itself has an Italian atmosphere, with many of the houses having ochre walls and terracotta roof tiles. The island attracts large numbers of tourists, and it is therefore worth seeking accommodation well up the steep steps from the harbour. Hydra is sophisticated, but also retains elements of ordinary Greek life.
