Another ripping royal yarn

Article Abstract:

The forthcoming interview of the Princess of Wales by investigative journalist Martin Bashir for the television programme 'Panorama' has already attracted considerable controversy, and the programme is likely to be viewed by 20 million people. There has been extensive speculation about her motives for agreeing to an interview, especially as television coverage tends to show the royal family in a poor light. The interview is likely to cover many personal details, going against the traditional BBC approach of supporting the monarchy.

Another planet

Article Abstract:

The Church of Scientology is currently running newspaper advertisements accusing the German government of indulging in Nazi-style persecution. This is a great exaggeration, as the Church of Scientology in Germany has experienced none of the violence or humiliation which was meted out to the Jews in Nazi Germany. Scientologists are reacting in this way simply because they are being taken seriously in Germany, where considerable efforts are being made to stop them invading the lives of young people.

Is pornography just a bit of fun or a cause for concern?

Article Abstract:

It is possible to argue that pornography can, in its milder forms, be a useful and harmless supplement to the reality of the sex lives of many ordinary people. However, pornography can also be addictive and present a model of behaviour that does not actually exist. It could damage human relationships, and its production could be exploitative. Making mild pornography more widely available will inevitably mean that more children will see it.
