A war the West can no longer ignore

Article Abstract:

The conflict between Russia and the republic of Chechnya has led to widespread destruction of property and many thousands of military and civilian casualties. Russia now has more than 200,000 troops in Chechnya, most of whom are unwilling and untrained conscripts. In contrast, the Chechen rebels are well trained and extremely motivated. It is now becoming impossible for western countries to ignore this conflict, and this will cause strained relations with Russia.

No longer a private affair

Article Abstract:

The UK's state schools are obliged by law to make certain information available to parents, but this is not the case with independent schools. Most independent schools do not have parent-governors, and parents usually do not have access to any inspection reports. It is now time to introduce more openness in the independent sector, making it more accountable to parents.
