Apple's future in the hands of Newton

Article Abstract:

Apple chmn John Sculley realised that the collapse of its core business in personal computers as Microsoft Windows took over could be overcome by moving into design of software and information networks. Pres Michael Spindler believes the company must reduce its costs aggressively. The share price halved between Jan 1993 and Jul 1993. Apple intends to develop digital devices and launched the Newton digital assistant on Aug 02, 1993. The Personal Interactive Electronics division (Apple PIE) licensed Newton technology to many consumer-products manufacturers to popularise its standard.

Japan-bashing reaches first base

Article Abstract:

Popular opinion in America blames Japanese imports for the recession and trade deficit, but some areas rely on Japanese firms or imports for employment. Most Americans support trade barriers and there are companies exhorting consumers to buy goods which are perceived to be American but are often manufactured in other countries. Commerce with Japan is vital for areas such as Washington where almost one third of employment depends on Japanese trade.

Ms Ruth Roosevelt was a stockbroker and financial futures trader until she found her hypnotism skills were of value to her colleagues. She believes individuals are responsible for their own achievements but hypnotism can help investors cope with the risks in their financial transactions. Hypnotic solutions must be suitable for the clients' work.
