As my grocer said: thank you Mr Clinton for the kind words

Article Abstract:

Some Muslims in the Lebanon perceive US President Bill Clinton as patronizing and offensive for pre-empting the US missile attack on Sudan and Afghanistan with the claim that the murder of innocent people is not condoned by religion. Muslims are furious the US can gather media support for its attack on alleged terrorists without presenting any evidence. There has been no evidence to support the US's claim that Osama bin Laden was involved in the bombing of US embassies in Tanzania and Kenya. Bin Laden is protected by the Taliban which is supported by Saudi Arabia, a US ally.

Fatalistic Iraqis hone art of survival

Article Abstract:

Many ordinary Iraqis are very fatalistic about the prospect of their country being attacked by the US. They generally simply focus on day-to-day survival, with many being forced to sell their most basic possessions to obtain money for food. Even wealthier Iraqis are not making many plans for the future. Some have had to sell all their valuable possessions, but have few regrets about having to do so, being aware of the need to simply live for the present.
