Building dreams out of straw

There is increasingly strong interest in the concept of straw-bale buildings, according to Amazon Nails owner Barbara Jones. She has extensive experience in conventional building techniques, but has now become firmly committed to straw-bale construction. There are already more than 400 straw-bale buildings in the US, and a number of companies there operate only in this sector. She is now hoping to establish straw-bale construction in the UK.

People use the idea of coincidence to make sense of their lives, according to artist Adam Dant, who has created the Institute of Coincidence at the Hayward Gallery in London, England. He believes that what people regard as a grand plan could in fact be just a lot of interconnected boxes. He is attracted to art that becomes part of a city, as his Daily Journal has become, and is also very interested in words.
