Au pair in America - my daughter's ordeal

Article Abstract:

A father tells of the experiences of his daughter when working for a year as an au pair in the US. She was warmly welcomed in the US by the recruitment agency through which she had gained her placement, but soon found that the family for which she was to work had not revealed that their children had severe behavioural difficulties. She felt that she had little support from the parents, and was not paid the agreed weekly allowance of $100. She later moved to another family where she was well treated and appreciated.

Not so much a work of art, more a pair of earplugs

Article Abstract:

The new BBC2 series 'Date with an Artist' links 12 contemporary artists with 12 new clients, both famous and ordinary people. One of the six programmes in the series links artist Cornelia Parker, who is shortlisted for the 1997 Turner Prize, with Rebecca Stephens, the first British woman to climb Everest. The series as a whole analyzes the symbiotic link between the artist and the client. This goes against the modern trend for the artist and the client to rarely meet.
