Back to the safety of home after the ordeal that every parent dreads

Charlene Lunnon and Lisa Hoodless, the 10-year-old girls who went missing while on their way to school in Hastings, England, have been found safe and well in Eastbourne, England. They had been missing for more than 72 hours, and even the police responsible for investigating their disappearance had begun to express reservations about whether they would be found alive. It is not known how long the girls had been in Eastbourne, but they were aware that their parents were searching for them.

Auld acquaintance will be forgot as 'jazzed-up' national anthem rounds off Millennium party

Article Abstract:

The 10,000 guests at the party on Dec 31, 1999, at the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, London, England, will hear a new arrangement of the national anthem. This will feature calypso-style samba drummers and an 80-piece orchestra. It will round off a party which will have pop and classical music concerts and a carnival with 500 performers. Some celebrities will attend the party, but strong emphasis will be placed on ordinary people who have made a contribution to society.

Patients looked like extras in an old war film

Article Abstract:

A total of 31 ambulances, six paramedic response units, two emergency control vehicles, four doctors and five medical teams dealt with those injured in the train crash near Paddington station, London, England. The victims suffered a range of injuries, including spinal fractures, burns and smoke inhalation. More than 150 people were admitted to seven hospitals in London, with 63 remaining in hospital overnight.
