Surely not a skirt in the slips?

Article Abstract:

The decision to admit women represents a significant step forward, according to Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Secretary Roger Knight. The club will retain a small men-only bar, and Knight feels that this is not an unreasonable concession to the club members who were not in favour of admitting women. He points out that the waiting list for MCC membership is currently 18 years, so change will not come very rapidly.

What about real life, Mr Birt?

Article Abstract:

The work of British film director Alan Clarke has been the subject of a retrospective at the 1998 Edinburgh Film Festival. Clarke's work portrays contemporary life and was mainly made for BBC television. It is argued that current trends away from such works of controversial topicality are the result of extensive audience surveys. Television channels are believed to fear offending their audiences.
