We can't ignore terrorism because it won't ignore us

Blair and Schroder stand united against colleagues and other foes

Article Abstract:

Relations between the UK and Germany are set to become more positive as a result of the election of Gerhard Schroder as German Chancellor. Neither Schroder nor UK Prime Minister Tony Blair feel instinctively positive about the European single currency, and are united by a feeling that they must nevertheless go ahead with single currency membership. Both men take a rapid, tactical approach to political life, and neither is in favour of the weighty system-building on which the European Union in its current form is based.
