Can the City halt London's drift to the east?

Article Abstract:

The recent purchase of the Canary Wharf development in London's Docklands by Paul Reichmann will lead to strong competition between this part of London and the City of London. The Docklands area has already started to attract some leading companies, such as investment bank BZW, and Canary Wharf is now being accused of 'poaching' City institutions. Canary Wharf is particularly attractive because rent and service charges there are much lower than in the City.

Cadbury persuades Dr Pepper

Article Abstract:

Drinks concern Dr Pepper is likely to be purchased in the near future by confectionery and soft drinks concern Cadbury Schweppes. Dr Pepper holds around 8% of the US soft drinks market, behind Coca-Cola and Pepsi, and Cadbury Schweppes has been interested in purchasing it for some time. The purchase will probably be funded by a 400 million pounds sterling rights issue.
