Can we have your marks, please, Oslo

Article Abstract:

The Eurovision Song Contest is extremely popular in Norway, where the event is to be held in 1996. This compares sharply with other European countries, where the contest is generally viewed rather cynically. It is expected that more than 80% of Norwegians will watch the 1996 event, and 2,000 people a day are already accessing a Eurovision Internet home page. The event's popularity is probably due to the fact that it gives Norway the opportunity to present to the world a different image from that with which it is normally associated.

Twenty-two positions in a fortnight stand

Article Abstract:

The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago is a classically trained company, but its latest project, named 'Billboard,' involves dancing to pop music by Prince. This has attracted positive reactions from audiences, and has been welcomed by the dancers themselves. They are keen to bring dance to a wider audience, possibly encouraging people to attend classical ballet at a later date. Prince was very impressed by this artistic approach to his music.

The Lucy Gannon formula

Article Abstract:

Lucy Gannon has become the most highly acclaimed writer of popular television drama in the UK. This is because of her great ability to always create characters which appeal directly to audiences. She has instinctive directness, and is always completely unpretentious. She attributes her writing abilities partly to her background, as moving around a lot as a child gave her a wide range of experience.
