Celsis board rejects cash bid

Article Abstract:

Celsis International was believed on 3 June 1998 to have rebuffed a bid approach for Celsis Laboratory Group's (CLG) from Arthur Holden. US-based CLG contributed approximately 25% to parent Celsis International's 1997 turnover of GB 16.2mn and the latter noted that this was one of several bids received by the laboratory equipment specialist. Mr Holden was chief executive of CLG until May 1998 and is keen to take the unit private of bid for a 100% share. However, Celsis International felt that his offer for CLG was too low.

US: RETHINK ON GREENWICH SALE PLANS?

Article Abstract:

Gary Holloway and Chip Kruger, joint heads of the NatWest Bank's derivatives and bond broking business Greenwich, are thought to have asked the Royal Bank of Scotland to reconsider plans to sell its US business. Their preferred option would be to split Greenwich on business by product rather than geographic area as they feel this would be less upsetting for both staff and clients.
