Chafic Wazzan

Article Abstract:

Lawyer and politician Chafic Wazzan gained a law degree at the Christian Saint Joseph University in 1947. He became secretary of the Islamic Council, and gained a parliamentary seat in 1968. He became minister of justice in 1969, and following the outbreak of the Lebanese civil war in 1975 helped to create the Islamic Grouping. He was appointed prime minister in 1980, and held this post until 1984. He spoke out against Israeli occupation of Palestinian land until his death.

Where the blood of Bosnia flows to no avail

Article Abstract:

The French hospital in Sarajevo has dealt with over 7,000 war-injured patients since Apr 1992, 1912 of them since July. On one day 90 arrived. Some return with further wounds. Civilians and soldiers, Muslims and Croats are all treated equally. Ethnic differences do not concern doctors. Medical supplies are limited. Patients injuries and attitudes are described.

Watching the war from Kabul's rooftops

Article Abstract:

There was great tension in Kabul, Afghanistan, immediately following the terrorist attacks in the US, with Arabs and Taliban quickly fleeing the city. A strange type of normality then returned to the city before US attacks began on Oct 7, 2001.
