Article Abstract:

The penetration rate for home computers in the UK has now reached 32%, with the market worth around 1.7 billion pounds sterling. There is now very limited demand for separate CD-ROMs, as CD-ROM drives are standard on most new home computers. THe market for home modems is worth 3.4 million pounds sterling. The market for in home printers is estimated at a value of 190 million pounds sterling in 1996, with bubble jet printers now being more popular than dot matrix printers.
