Disunited Arab chiefs cling to 'land for peace.' (danger of collapse of Oslo peace agreement for Middle East)

Article Abstract:

The refusal of new Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu to consider a withdrawal from Golan, a Palestinian state or a Palestinian capital in east Jerusalem is threatening the future of the Oslo peace agreement for the Middle East, according to almost all Arab nations. The Arabs claim to still want peace in the Middle East, and are keen to ensure that they will not be blamed if conflict breaks out once more. They are now calling on Israel to keep its commitments.

Middle East ruled by death and hypocrisy

Article Abstract:

Political leaders in the Middle East have made some serious mistakes in 1996, and the region has experienced great violence and tension. The Middle East is now turning increasingly to Europe, especially France, for assistance as the credibility of the US declines. It seems likely that Europe will take on a role of growing importance in the Middle East, while the US fails to openly condemn acts of violence. New areas of concern include Algeria, where the Islamist guerrilla army has been guilty of acts of great violence.
