Impeachment put on hold as US launches strike against Saddam

Article Abstract:

The US and the UK have decided to go ahead with air attacks on Iraq following the refusal by Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein to comply with the terms of United Nations weapons inspections. The attacks are expected to focus on sites where Iraq is believed to be constructing or storing weapons of mass destruction and on significant political targets. Previous use of force against Iraq has been widely supported in the US, but this latest development has attracted criticism, with some congressional Republicans regarding it as an attempt to deflect attention from Clinton's personal problems.

CIA takes blame for targeting wrong site

Article Abstract:

The US has stated that the Nato bomb attack on the Chinese embassy in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, was the result of incorrect CIA intelligence. The embassy building had been identified as a weapons supply and procurement centre. No information has been given about the point in the intelligence process at which the mistake was made. It has been denied that Nato deliberately set out to destroy the potential connection between Serbian intelligence and information from China that would assist in protecting Belgrade against the US.
