Don't forget about Ricky

Article Abstract:

The family of Lakhvinder Reel, known as Ricky, who disappeared on Oct 14, 1997, and whose body was found a week later in the River Thames, believe that his murder was racially motivated. He had been racially abused while walking through Kingston, England, with a group of friends. However, police officers investigating the case did not seem to take the possibility of a racially-motivated attack seriously. The Metropolitan Police have undertaken an inquiry into the way the case was handled, but the findings will not be made available to Reel's family or to their lawyer.

A woman of her age

Article Abstract:

Older women are generally portrayed very negatively, according to writer Carole Hayman. She is determined to speak out strongly on behalf of older women, and this has given her a high profile. She feels that she has always been a rebel, and often becomes angry at the injustices in the world. She was completely taken over by politics, and this led to her gravitating towards women in general. Her books challenge the view that older women cannot be sexually inventive.

Article Abstract:

Children who have already worked with the Children's Express news agency, which has recently been officially launched, have gained a great deal of confidence through activities such as interviewing well known people. The agency currently covers 30 inner London children aged 8-18 who train as reporters and editors and seek news about issues which interest children. Many have found that the work has considerably improved their reading and writing skills.
