Article Abstract:

The birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, attracts very large numbers of visitors. Some are true Shakespeare fans, while others merely visit the house as part of a more general tour. Shakespeare is a strong brand, but this is not so much the case with composers Edward Elgar and Gustav Holst. It has not been possible to complete the Elgar Centre behind Elgar's cottage in Broadheath, England, while the birthplace museum of Holst in Cheltenham, England, reflects the fact that he remains a marginal figure.

Victoriana gets a facelift

Article Abstract:

Designers are seeking to improve the attractiveness of the British Galleries at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England. The galleries were closed in summer 1998, and attracted visitors for only 11 minutes on average. There are over 4,000 static exhibits, and designers have to give life to these exhibits. Roger Mann and Dinah Casson are designers involved in the project, and they have decided on a sequential presentation which allows visitors to trace the history of design to 1900 from 1500.
