Feelgood factor pushes British air fares to new high

Article Abstract:

The UK's business travel sector is currently undergoing a period of strong growth. Indeed, business fares have risen more rapidly in the UK since 1995 than in any other European country. This is partly because airlines have had to invest very heavily in the services and facilities that business travellers have now come to expect. It is also partly the result of demand rising at a time when capacity has remained static. The business travel market remains dominated by Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Falling fares are just the ticket for travellers

Article Abstract:

Very attractive fares are being made available to travellers as 1997 begins. British Airways, for example, is offering flights from Heathrow airport to Peking, China, for only 309 pounds sterling return, including UK tax. Its World Offer tickets also offer cut-price travel from Glasgow or Belfast to London and from Birmingham to Paris. Coach operators have been obliged to reduce fares to 1970s levels in order to fight against growing competition from air travel.

Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane

Article Abstract:

Business air travel is cheap in Britain in Nov 1992. Market segmentation is standard practice. Hundreds of pounds can be saved by purchasing a ticket through an agent. Business travellers need flexibility and convenient scheduling but the added comfort of business class is only necessary for long journeys. Large UK companies still pursue a policy of business class travel, usually on British Airways.
