French money brings hope to the film industry

Article Abstract:

Film director Paul Anderson and producer Jeremy Bolt have raised finance for their film 'Shopping' from the French production house Ciby 2000. Owner of TFL Francis Bouygues established Ciby 2000 to finance international quality films with mass appeal. Only 33 British films were made in 1991. The new generation have experience in pop videos rather than commercials and are influenced by the cinema not literature. 'Shopping' is a fast, contemporary thriller.

Terrified Miss X says rape was ignored by staff

Article Abstract:

Recent reports indicate that the residents of Heathercroft children's home near Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, were sexually attacked by other residents, assaulted by staff and allowed to take drugs and drink. These reports come only shortly after the county council defended conditions at its children's homes. Two former care workers have stated that there was poor supervision at the home and a lack of monitoring by the local authority.

A high price to pay for a nurse's rounds

Carol Rudd was dismissed as a health visitor by the health authority for South Molton, a small town in north Devon, in May 1990 following an investigation into claims of misconduct made by a colleague. The health authority adopted extreme tactics, raiding her office and conducting a bogus survey of her clients. The case has split the town, and the legal battle is still going on.
