From great dictator to bloody pariah: how the world caught up with the Butcher of Belgrade

Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic was once the nation's hero, but few people now have any regrets that he is to face a war crimes tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands. There is now the prospect of a return to normal life for ordinary people.

The laughing butcher of Bosnia sent south 'to defend' Kosovo

Article Abstract:

It seems likely that a group headed by Serb paramilitary leader Arkan will be used by the Yugoslav government as it seeks to crush the ethnic Albanians in Kosovo, Yugoslavia. Arkan has gained a strong reputation as a ruthless fighter, and was involved in many atrocities during the 1992 to 1995 Bosnian conflict. He is greatly respected by working class Serbians, who particularly welcome his devotion to the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Slaughter of the 62 sons of Bela Crkva

Article Abstract:

Reports from ethnic Albanians who escaped from the small settlement of Bela Crkva, Kosovo, Yugoslavia, to Kukes, Albania, indicate that the Serbs had been carefully planning the liquidation of the ethnic Albanian population of Kosovo for some time before Nato air strikes began. The Serb army began attacking Bela Crkva and other villages on the Albanian border immediately after Nato air strikes began, seeking to create a buffer zone between Kosovo and Albania. It is believed that almost all men and boys aged 12 and above in the region were massacred.
