Give prosperity a chance, too

Article Abstract:

Northern Ireland Growth Challenge, a concept devised by the Northern Ireland branch of the Confederation of British Industry in 1993, is looking at ways to overcome the economic problems which have traditionally been associated with the unrest in Northern Ireland. There is a strong industrial heritage there, but unemployment is high and the standard of living is low. Successful businesspeople have kept a low profile for fear of becoming a terrorist target, and there has been little investment. Efforts are now being made to focus on growth sectors, such as tourism.
