He came, he saw brilliance, he conquered

Article Abstract:

There were many frustrations associated with first setting up in business, but it still felt the right thing to do, according to John Snyder, founder of computer company Muscat. He was very keen to exploit the advantages of using natural language to retrieve information, instead of a complex sequence of words. He began by collaborating with Dr Martin Porter, and the venture achieved turnover of 15,000 pounds sterling in 1991. Snyder made the company's technology more attractive, and this generated interest from Cascade, which resold Muscat's product to a wide range of companies.
