Hell is other people

Article Abstract:

Filmmaker and playwright Neil LaBute believes that the six main characters in his new film, 'Your Friends & Neighbours,' are too involved in their own problems to be fully aware of other people's problems. He extended the idea he presented in his 1998 film 'In the Company of Men,' of beautiful people saying terrible things. He feels that the persistence shown by the main characters as they desperately seek to fulfill their own needs can be regarded as a virtue. He believes the film avoids creating a sense of hopelessness because its characters do come out of bad relationships.

Frayed about the edges, solid at the core

Article Abstract:

Rock group Massive Attack has had a very significant impact on the UK music scene in the 1990s, particularly through the 1991 album 'Blue Lines' and the 1994 album 'Protection.' The group's new album, 'Mezzanine,' deals with the inability to relate to people. This can be viewed as a reflection of the fact that the group's members, Grant Marshall, Robert Del Naja and Andrew Vowles, are often involved in personality clashes. The group has won many film soundtrack commissions and other work, but its members are still keen to keep a low profile.

The truth about bridge junkies

Article Abstract:

There are more than 2 million bridge players in the UK, according to estimates from the English Bridge Union. Some people play simply for pleasure, while others take the game extremely seriously and become very competitive. This is particularly the case with players of duplicate bridge, which has a very complicated bidding system. Bridge tends to bring together very different sorts of people, and is now attracting many younger people, having traditionally been seen as a game for older people.
