Hot property: how to get it

Article Abstract:

Installing effective insulation can go a long way towards keeping a home acceptably warm and reducing heating bills. Most heat is lost through unlagged roofs and uninsulated floors and walls, so these areas should be given particular attention. It is rarely economical to install double glazing in an old house, and money would be better spent on renovating and draught-proofing existing windows. Attention should also be given to measures which will prevent pipes freezing.

Boats and houses share a river outlook

Article Abstract:

The construction of new housing developments along the Thames in London, England, has until recently threatened the way of life of houseboat residents in that area. However, efforts are now being made to take the interests of houseboat owners into account. Developers hold the key to reviving the traditional way of life along the Thames, but they need to have appropriate encouragement from planners and local authorities.
